Specialist AI readiness consultancy for UK businesses.
We help businesses build the operational foundations that make AI investments work — through structured diagnostic work, targeted build programmes, and senior-led advisory.
A focused practice doing one thing well.
ReadyLayer is a specialist consultancy built around a single discipline: AI readiness. We work with UK businesses to assess, strengthen, and build the operational foundations that determine whether AI tools deliver results in practice.
We are not a broad technology consultancy. We do not implement AI systems, manage software deployments, or provide generalist digital transformation advice. Our narrow focus is deliberate — it means every engagement we take on is one we are specifically experienced to lead.
We work primarily with businesses in professional services, financial services, technology, and manufacturing — typically at the point where AI ambitions are clear but the path forward is not. Our clients come to us when they want an honest, independent assessment rather than a vendor-led proposal.
Three ways we work with clients.
Every engagement is structured and priced before it begins. We do not work on open-ended time-and-materials arrangements.
Foundation Review
A structured four-week assessment across all four foundation layers. You receive a written report, a prioritised action roadmap, and a senior readout with your leadership team. Fixed price. No obligation to proceed further with us.
Layer Build Programmes
Targeted programmes that address specific readiness gaps identified in the Foundation Review. Each programme focuses on a single layer — Data Infrastructure, Systems & Integration, Workflow & Process, or Governance & Risk. Fixed price, defined deliverables.
Retained Advisory
Ongoing readiness support for businesses that want a senior, independent perspective as their AI programme develops. Monthly sessions, quarterly reviews, vendor assessment, and async access. Three-month minimum engagement.
Diagnostic first. Everything else follows.
The quality of the diagnostic determines the quality of everything that follows. Our Foundation Review is designed as a standalone deliverable — not a discovery process engineered to justify a larger engagement.
The four layers we assess represent the operational infrastructure that AI performance depends on. Understanding where a business stands across all four is the prerequisite for any sound implementation decision.

Founder & Principal Consultant[Insert founder background here — the operational and technology experience that informs the ReadyLayer approach. Prior roles and the engagements that made clear how consistently the foundations problem underpins AI underperformance.]
[The pattern that shaped the four-layer framework: what was reliably present in AI implementations that delivered, and reliably absent in those that did not. The point at which that pattern became a methodology.]
[Why ReadyLayer was founded as a dedicated, independent practice — and what that structure means in practice for how engagements are run and how advice is given.]
No implementation agenda. Just the advice.
ReadyLayer is structured as an independent advisory firm. We do not build AI systems, deploy software, or manage implementation programmes. That structural independence is not incidental — it is the foundation the quality of our advice rests on.
When we assess your readiness, our findings are not shaped by what comes next commercially. If the Foundation Review indicates that you are not yet ready to proceed with a particular investment, we will say so clearly and explain what needs to change first.
The right place to start is the Foundation Review.
Four weeks. Fixed price. A clear picture of where your business stands across all four AI readiness layers — and a sequenced plan for what comes next.
